Those interested in learning kyudo can sign up for “First Shot,” a daylong program to be held at AVA Gallery and Art Center. A free Kyudo Demonstration to introduce the First Shot program will be offered on Friday, October 16, from 6-7pm. “First Shot” gives the beginner an introduction to the Seven Coordinations (Shichido), the basic form of kyudo, as well as the meditation aspects. “First Shot” is required before one can practice regularly with other kyudokas (practitioners). The cost is $90 and includes instruction, use of equipment, and lunch. Adults and older teenagers are welcome to participate. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Aya Itagaki Scholarship Fund at AVA. For registration, please visit AVA Gallery.
